Strategies to get the perfect vacation property experience:

How to get the best value:

  • Book your vacation home in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Beaufort, SC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Often, property management companies supply Beaufort, SC area visitors guide magazines which include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Planning, picking, and booking your prefectrental home:

  • Start by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Charming Port Royal Cottage: Walk to Dining, 5 Min to Parris Island, Beach & Bike Trails! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Beaufort, SC rental home search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before booking the home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out what is optimal for your group.
  • Looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
  • Note any damages to the property at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if there is a dispute.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a fantastic stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
