Rental home tips and tricks:
Getting the best rental home value:
- Summer is the most expensive season in coastal SC. Booking in the Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- The earlier you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
- Property managers often offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Many management companies supply Beaufort, SC area visitor guides which will include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, SC area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to choose the perfect vacation home in the Beaufort, SC area:
- First and foremost, have your group choose a vacation week and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. The Harrington in downtown Beaufort has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Beaufort, SC rentals search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish what configuration is suitable for your trip.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
More tips for your visit:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
- To make sure that damages are not attributed to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas upon check in. E-mail the host immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be respectful. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental while you're out. Protect your property!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected everything. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a excellent stay? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
