Booking your vacation rental up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites typically offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Considerations for your stay:

  • Get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your . Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Document any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if a dispute is filed.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your life at home. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
  • When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a wonderful stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
