Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:
How to get the best rental home value:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Beaufort, SC area. To find the largest vacation home for your budget, we suggest booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Beaufort, SC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Some owners offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Property management companies usually offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Beaufort, SC area visitor guides which will include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, SC visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Select your vacation week and budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. 204 Tennis Villa - One Bedroom Villa, Sleeps 4 has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking pages. If not, call the property manager before reserving the property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a particular Beaufort, SC destination you are crazy about, keep an eye out for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
More considerations:
- Add the owner's phone number to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few difficulties.
- Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
- During arrival, record any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on great reviews to compel new reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
