Tricks and tips to get the very best vacation rental experience:
When to visit & When to reserve a rental home:
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Reserve your Beaufort, SC rental in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Often, property management companies supply Beaufort, SC area visitor guide magazines which will include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, SC visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Choosing the perfect rental:
- To start, have your family select date ranges and a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. 70 Davis Love - Resort Access Always Included! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before you book the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or costs could be applied to your agreement.
- If there's an individual Beaufort, SC destination you crave, look for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
More tips for your stay:
- Add the owner's information to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Document any issues with the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are assessed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a fantastic stay? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
