How to get the best Beaufort, SC vacation home experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Booking in Fall or Spring months is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Beaufort, SC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Beaufort, SC area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides have coupons for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Selecting the best rental home:
- First and foremost, have your family agree to vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. 70 Davis Love - Resort Access Always Included! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before reserving the rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- If there's a particular Beaufort, SC beach you long to visit, look for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
Additional considerations:
- Put the host's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of concerns.
- Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect your property!
- Make a record of any issues with the property at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if a dispute arises.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a excellent vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
