Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Port Royal rental experience:

Get the most from your budget:

  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal SC. To find the best value, change your vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • Some owners offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Many rental management companies supply Beaufort, SC area visitor guide magazines which will include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, SC visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Make a plan and pick your prefect Beaufort, SC rental:

  • First, have your group agree to date ranges and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Affordable Cottage close to Parris Island gate has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible on booking pages. If not, email or call the property manager before booking your rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what configuration is right for your trip.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.
  • Is your group looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of concerns.
  • Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Make a record of any issues with the property at check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if there is a dispute.
  • Be respectful. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a terrific stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
