How to find the best Beaufort, SC vacation property experience:

Get the most from your rental home budget:

  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is high season in Beaufort. To find the best value, try shifting your family's Beaufort, SC vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Beaufort, SC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Beaufort, SC area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain coupons for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • To start, have your family select a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Bungalow in the Historic District! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before reserving your home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or charges could be applied to your contract.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Have a wonderful stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental while you're away. Protect your property!
  • Note any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if a dispute is filed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a terrific time? Most rental managers make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
