Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Fripp Island vacation property experience:

When to visit Fripp Island & When to reserve a rental home:

  • To find the best value, try changing your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Beaufort, SC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property managers sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Look for your local Beaufort, SC visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guides contain deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Choose vacation dates and budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. FRIPP ISLAND\/Hot tub overlooking lake\/ Community Pool\/6 Seater Golf Cart\/Cards available-275 Deer Lake has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is commonly available online. If they are not listed, email the property manager before you book the property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Add the owner's contact info to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • During arrival, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • At departure, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a terrific stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
