- Start by choosing trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Luxury Oceanfront with Panoramic Views, Golf Cart Included 727 Sea Dragon has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available online. If not, reach out to the host before reserving the home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is right for your vacation.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly property. Request information on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
Additional considerations:
- Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Make a record of any damages to the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute arises.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental home while you are out. Keep your property safe!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected everything. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on great ratings to inspire new reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
