Our top Rental property booking tips:
Finding your perfect vacation home:
- To get the largest rental home within budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Beaufort, SC attractions.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies often offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Beaufort, SC area magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides have offers and deals for local shops and restaurants.
Make a plan and pick the rightvacation home:
- Begin by selecting your a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Ocean views, private pool at North Hampton Villas has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking pages. If not, email or call the host before booking the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you will need a pet-friendly property. Request details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
Additional considerations:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
- Upon check-in, note any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
- Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a terrific time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
