Tricks and tips to get the perfect Beaufort, SC vacation property experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are high season in the Beaufort, SC area. To book the largest rental within your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Booking websites often offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local Beaufort, SC area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines contain discounts for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
How to pick the best rental home in the Beaufort, SC area:
- First and foremost, have your group commit to trip dates and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Pompano Beauty with a View to Die For! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before you book the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is right for your family.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or applied to your contract.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Additional considerations:
- Add the host's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many concerns.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would back home.
- To ensure that damages are not linked to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas during check in. E-mail the property manager right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent source for finding the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
