How to get the best vacation home experience:
When to visit Fripp Island & When to book:
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer time is high season in the Beaufort, SC area. To book the best vacation home within your budget, we highly recommend booking in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular Beaufort, SC attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites usually offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies supply Beaufort, SC area travel guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, SC area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Make a plan and pick your prefectrental:
- To start, have your family choose a vacation week and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Perfect Place for the Holidays! Great for entertaining & fits the whole family. has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking pages. If not, call the property manager before you book the rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what is suitable for your trip.
- Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Advice for a smooth stay:
- Get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would back home.
- Document any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your peace. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and scan for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to inspire new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
