Selecting the perfect vacation rental:
- Begin by choosing your the best vacation week and a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. The Tara House - Pet Friendly, Golf Cart Included, has 8 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the host before reserving the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is right for your trip.
- If your family is bringing pets, filter your search for a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property managers charge additional pet fees.
- Does your family require special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking
Additional considerations:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of problems.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute arises.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on good ratings to drive future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
