Tricks and tips to get the perfect rental home experience:
When to visit & When to reserve a rental home:
- The sooner you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your rental property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Summer is high season in Fripp Island. Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is a good way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties.
- Some property management companies offer rate reductions for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, travel guides have deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Select vacation dates and max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. 601 New Haven - Main Level Condo Next to Community Elevator, Golf Cart Included has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property manager before reserving the rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish what configuration is right for your group.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or charges could be applied to your agreement.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
Know before you go:
- Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Note any issues with the property during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute is filed.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a fantastic stay? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
