Welcome to “Sunspot”, a completely refreshed (May 2022), elegantly furnished beachfront condominium on pretty Fripp Island. Sunspot is in the Captain John Fripp Villas, centrally located on the Island, with the very best stretch of beach – whether at high tide or low! Unlike public beaches, such as Hilton Head and Myrtle Beach, Fripp Island is secluded and serene. Even during the high season, the beach is not too busy to spread out a family’s worth of towels, chairs, coolers and umbrellas, and still have room to build a sandcastle! This handsomely updated condo has two bedrooms and two completely remodeled full bathrooms upstairs, and a half bath on the first floor. Wake to broad vistas of the Atlantic Ocean. The master bedroom (which has the ocean view) has a impressive queen bed and a delightful, sophisticated en suite bath with a phenomenal shower and plenty of vanity storage. The guest room has a queen bed and handsome constructed-in bunk beds. The additional full bath is just off the hallway. This bathroom is super cute, with updated fixtures and a generously tiled tub/shower combination. Each bedroom has a flat screen T.V., and the guest room t.v. has a DVD player constructed in! There is ample closet space and plenty of storage for clothes in chests of drawers in each room.
The first floor includes a laundry room with washer and dryer. We do provide a modest supply of washing detergent upon your arrival. The kitchen is completely equipped, with plates, glasses, flatware, cookware and silverware, with a full sized dishwasher for your convenience. It includes a five burner smooth top electric stove with oven and microwave, a combo coffee machine for automatic drip or single cup brewing, a toaster, a blender and a full sized refrigerator with ice maker. All appliances are brand new as of May 2022!
There is a half bath on the first floor (not available in many of the two bedroom condos); a dining area which can seat up to eight; and a comfortable den with a huge, beautiful couch, a roomy accent chair and a 60” flat screen TV for your viewing enjoyment. A DVD player and enormous array of movies are available for your use. There are also connections for Roku or other streaming devices. Right outside the sliding glass door is a patio with a charcoal grille and a nice wrought iron table and chair ensemble with a sizable patio umbrella for shade. Parents can sip coffee in the morning, or beverages in the evening, and savor the ocean vista while modest kids cavort on the grassy yard directly behind the villa. The convenient boardwalk to the white sand beach is just steps away. The John Fripp Villas complex has a private pool for residents and guests, if one wants to take a fresh water dip or just relax in the sun without the sand!
We do not provide a golf cart with our rental home. I seriously considered making that an option, but after weighing the pros and cons, decided it was best to let guests rent from one of the local companies. I could provide it myself, and then increase costs for the guest to cover the costs of purchase, use, maintenance and insurance. However, if there were a problem with the cart, it might take numerous days (or even weeks) for me to be able to get the cart repaired. It is not painless for an individual to get a cart attended to during the busy season, as all the commercial companies are concerned with their own repairs/replacements, etc. If a guest rents a cart themselves, they are assured that the golf cart company will get a replacement cart to them very quickly if there are any problems.
Located 19 miles east of Beaufort, South Carolina, Fripp is a private, 3000 acre nature preserve, which features two spectacular golf courses; a Racquet club with eight Fast-Dry clay courts and two hard courts; 7 pools; a full-service Marina; land and water units including golf carts, bicycles, mopeds, Carolina Skiffs and kayaks; and guided trips on the “Fripper II”, the Island pontoon cruiser. There are multiple eateries on the island, as well as the “Beach Club Food Court”, serving everything from fine dining to burgers and chicken fingers. There are also multiple fun “watering holes” for the adults to appreciate!
One will certainly enjoy a striking beach vacation at Fripp calming on our roomy beach, playing in the sand and surf, hiking, cycling, fishing, and visiting with family and friends in a relaxing and gorgeous ambiance. One can take day trips to close by Hunting Island State Park, the cozy stores and eateries of Frogmore, Historic Beaufort, Hilton Head, Savannah, and Charleston. The Captain John Fripp Villa complex has a private pool for the use of our guests. Also, our full kitchen makes cooking complete meals for the family in the villa simple and convenient.
The golf courses, tennis courts, island eateries, and numerous island pools are owned and operated by the Fripp Island Golf and Beach Resort. Other resort amenities include the Fripp Kids’s camp, recreational equipment units, golf cart units, and various club-sponsored activities. The resort has a Club Guest Pass policy. In order to access the resort amenities a club guest card must be purchased for each individual aged thirteen and older. Anyone under thirteen must be accompanied by an adult with a club guest card. For guests wishing to order club guest cards, there is a resort fee added to the rental rate. The resort fee is 12.8% of the rental rate (before cleaning costs and taxes). This fee is required by the Fripp Island Resort for anyone utilizing the club amenities. The resort fee is in addition to the club card costs. This is a policy implemented by the new resort owners, as of February 24, 2023. Please note, because the resort fee is not automatically applied via the Vacation Rental By Owner platform, the additional amount for resort costs and amenities cards is paid to the homeowner directly. This will be a separate charge on the signed rental agreement. The cost for a weekly club guest card (5-8 days) is $50.00 each during the Summer - typically Memorial Day through Labor Day weekend - and $35.00 for a four-day card (1-4 days). During the rest of the year, the cost for weekly cards is $35.00 and the cost for four-day cards is $25.00. Guest cards are purchased through property owners, and we can certainly order those for our guests who would like to have them. If you do not wish to order Club guest cards, and do not wish to use club amenities, this resort fee will not apply to your rental!
Rental of the villa is contingent upon direct communication between the guest and the homeowner. No rental will be considered complete and valid until a signed rental agreement has been received by both events! Although we appreciate family pets (we have numerous of our own), we do not take our pets, and we do not allow guests to bring pets to the villa. No, dogs, cats, birds, turtles, lizards, hamsters, gerbils, guinea pigs, hedgehogs... nada! We have outfitted our villa with very nice furnishings, and we expect our guests to take good care of our vacation home.
Fripp Island is just a short distance from the historic towns of Beaufort and Charleston, South Carolina, and Savannah, Georgia.
