Strategies to get the best vacation property experience:
Find your perfect vacation home:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Reserving a rental home in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- Some property management companies offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Beaufort, SC area travel guides that include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, SC visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Finding the best vacation rental:
- Choose vacation week and max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Three Bedrooms - Amenity Cards Available has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property management company before reserving the property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly rental. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, hosts charge additional pet fees.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
Advice for a wonderful stay:
- Add the owner's phone number to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of issues.
- Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
- Document any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a terrific vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
