Tricks and tips to get the very best Beaufort, SC vacation property experience:
Get the most from your rental home budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To get the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer great weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Beaufort, SC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Often, property management companies supply Beaufort, SC area visitor guides which include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, SC visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
Additional considerations:
- Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- To make sure no damages are linked to your visit, make a record of any problem areas when you arrive. Make contact with the rental manager right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let burglars ruin your vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on good reviews to compel new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
