Our top Vacation rental home tips:
When to book & When to go:
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Summertime is high season in the Beaufort, SC area. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Beaufort, SC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your group qualifies for a discount.
- Property managers frequently offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Many rental management companies supply Beaufort, SC area visitor guides that include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, SC visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- First and foremost, have your group decide on dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Golf Cart Included, Golf Course View 413 Wahoo Drive has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available online. If they are not listed, email the host before reserving your home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- If there's a specific Beaufort, SC destination you simply love, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Advice for a smooth stay:
- Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute is filed.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a fantastic stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
