Tips and Tricks to get the very best rental home experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Beaufort. Reserve your Beaufort, SC vacation home in Fall or Spring to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Some property management companies offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
- Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies supply Beaufort, SC area visitor guide magazines which often include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, SC visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Planning, picking, and booking a perfect Beaufort, SC vacation home:
- Start by selecting potential vacation weeks and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Lowcountry Gump House - Close to MCRD\/Downtown has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking pages. If not, email the property management company before you book your home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is right for your vacation.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Request specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property managers charge additional pet fees.
- Are you visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
Considerations for your stay:
- Add the property manager's contact information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
- To make sure that damages are not attributed to your stay, note any problem areas upon check in. Contact the host right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be respectful. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on great reviews to inspire future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
