Strategies to get the optimal rental home experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • In the Beaufort, SC area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Booking your vacation home up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • Booking your Beaufort, SC vacation home in the Fall or Spring is a good way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
  • Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.

Advice for a smooth stay:

  • We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many issues.
  • Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect your property!
  • Make a record of any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if there is a dispute.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to inspire future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
