Getting the best rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- In the Beaufort, SC area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a great way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Beaufort, SC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Some property managers offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Beaufort, SC area travel guides which often include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, SC area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Finding the best rental in the Beaufort, SC area:
- Select vacation dates and max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Shorely Blessed on Marlin, Pet Friendly, 6 seat golf cart included has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible online. Otherwise, call the property owner before you reserve your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a rental that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
- If there's a certain Beaufort, SC attraction you are enamored with, keep an eye out for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Know before you go:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of problems.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Record any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a great time? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
