Strategies for getting the best vacation home experience:
Finding your best deal:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To get the best value, try changing your family's Beaufort, SC trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- In the Beaufort, SC area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
- Property management companies usually offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines contain coupons for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Choose your dates and budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Stunning Oceanfront Home with Private Beach Access - 468 Tarpon has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before you reserve your rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish which bed configuration is best for your vacation group.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- If your group is bringing pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Request details on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
Have a wonderful stay:
- Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- During arrival, document any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many difficulties.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental while you are out. Protect your property!
- Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a wonderful vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
