Tricks and tips for getting the perfect vacation home experience:
Sticking to your budget:
- Summer is the most expensive season in the Beaufort, SC area. Booking in Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- In the Beaufort, SC area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation home 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property management companies often offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Look for your local Beaufort, SC area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitors guides have coupons for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and select a budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Sandy Feet Retreat - Five Bedroom House, Sleeps 15 has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before booking the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If there's an individual Beaufort, SC attraction you love, browse properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.
Know before you go:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Document any damages to the property at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Upon check-out, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a terrific time? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
