Tips to get the optimal vacation rental experience:
When to go & When to book:
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are high season in the Beaufort, SC area. To get the best value, try shifting your vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Beaufort, SC visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides have deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Finding the perfect vacation home in the Beaufort, SC area:
- Begin by choosing vacation dates and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. **The Caddy's Shack** Golf Cart Included and Club Cards has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking websites. If not, call the property manager before booking the rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
- Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.
- If there's a specific Beaufort, SC attraction you are crazy about, look for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
During your stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of issues.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would at home.
- To make sure damages aren't attributed to your visit, make note of any problem areas during check in. Speak to the rental manager right away to record any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your peace and quiet. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a great time? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
