Tips and Tricks for getting the best Beaufort, SC vacation rental experience:
Get the best value:
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer time is high season in the Beaufort, SC area. To get the best value, shift your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer great weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Beaufort, SC visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines contain offers and deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
How to choose the perfect vacation rental in the Beaufort, SC area:
- To start, have your family choose a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Private neighborhood Pool, Golf cart incl., Wall of windows to watch wildlife has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before booking the rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what is right for your family.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- If there's a specific Beaufort, SC destination you are crazy about, browse properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
Some things to know before you go:
- Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Be a good neighbor. Often, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental one final time and look for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a fantastic time? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
