Tips and Tricks to get the optimal Beaufort, SC rental home experience:

When to reserve a Beaufort, SC rental home & When to go:

  • The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Booking your vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Booking websites often offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Often, management companies supply Beaufort, SC area visitors guides which often include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Make a plan and choose the perfect Beaufort, SC vacation home:

  • First and foremost, have your group commit to date ranges and a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Center Island, Steps to beach access – 703 Silverside has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Beaufort, SC rentals search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking pages. If not, contact the property manager before reserving the vacation home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or costs applied to your agreement.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

More tips for your visit:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect your property!
  • Note any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and scan for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a excellent vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
