Tricks and tips to get the best vacation rental experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • Summertime is high season in Fripp Island. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a good way to save on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes.
  • In the Beaufort, SC area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your vacation rental six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Beaufort, SC visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides have coupons for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Selecting the best vacation home:

  • Select a group leader, select your dates, and select a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Great views, close to cabana club, golf cart included - 23 Veranda Beach has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is generally available online. If not, reach out to the property manager before booking the home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what is suitable for your trip.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or charges might be applied to your agreement.

Additional considerations:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
  • Note any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
  • When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a great vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
