Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Beaufort, SC vacation home experience:
Finding your perfect vacation home:
- Booking your vacation home in Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Booking your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Property management companies usually offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides have offers and deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Selecting the best vacation rental:
- Begin by selecting your vacation dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Private Marsh-front Home with View has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the host before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is right for your trip.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly rental. Get specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
Considerations for your stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- Record any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if damages are assessed.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a terrific vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
