Strategies to get the very best vacation home experience:
How to get the best value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Beaufort, SC area. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a great way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- In the Beaufort, SC area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your family qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies usually offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Beaufort, SC area travel guides which will include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, SC visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Narrow your rental Search:
- First and foremost, have your group commit to vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration you need. Private Pool\/Steps to the Beach\nNew Remodel\/No Resort Fees has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before reserving your home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what is suitable for your trip.
- If there's a specific Beaufort, SC beach you are crazy about, search for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or might be applied to your contract.
More considerations for your visit:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- During arrival, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent source for finding the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on good feedback to propel more reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
