Our top Rental booking tips and tricks:

Get the best value:

  • Summertime is high season in Fripp Island. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties.
  • In the Beaufort, SC area, The sooner you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your rental property up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property management companies usually offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides contain money saving offers on nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Selecting the best vacation home:

  • Choose dates and budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Relax by the Sea! Wide Beach! Beautiful view from porch. has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Beaufort, SC rental home search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking websites. Otherwise, email the host before reserving the rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If there's a certain Beaufort, SC attraction you crave, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or costs might be applied to your invoice.

Additional considerations:

  • Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make sure damages aren't attributed to your visit, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. Get in touch with the rental manager right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many problems.
  • Be respectful. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your rental while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take photos of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a wonderful time? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
