Tips to get the optimal rental home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in the Beaufort, SC area. To get the best rental home within budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Look for your local Beaufort, SC visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitor guides contain deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Choosing the best vacation home:
- Choose vacation week and max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Relax by the Sea! Wide Beach! Beautiful view from porch. has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available online. If not, email or call the property owner before you reserve the rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what configuration is suitable for your group.
- Are you looking for special amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or costs may be applied to your contract.
Some things to know before you go:
- Add the host's contact info to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- During check-in, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let burglars ruin your vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on good feedback to propel future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
