- Store the host's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of difficulties.
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would at home.

- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
