Getting the best vacation rental experience:
Getting the most from your rental budget:
- Book your Beaufort, SC vacation in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines contain coupons for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
How to choose and book yourrental:
- Choose a group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration you need. Adorable Ocean View Home, Cabana Club, Golf Cart - 165 Ocean Creek has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking websites. If not, email or call the property manager before reserving the home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If there's an individual Beaufort, SC beach you simply love, keep an eye out for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you will need a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts charge additional pet fees.
More tips for your visit:
- Get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
- Note any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if there is a dispute.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your peaceful home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a fantastic time? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
