Tips to get the best vacation home experience:
Sticking to your rental budget:
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is high season in the Beaufort, SC area. Booking in the Spring or Fall is a great way to save on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Many rental management companies supply Beaufort, SC area visitors guide magazines which often include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, SC area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Start by selecting your a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Oceanfront home, 6 seat golf cart - 711 Red Drum has 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property owner before you reserve the property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what is right for your vacation family.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the owner's phone number to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few difficulties.
- Lock your vacation home while you are away. Keep your property safe!
- Record any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if damages are assessed.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to inspire more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
