Tricks and tips to get the optimal vacation home experience:
When to book & When to go:
- In the Beaufort, SC area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in Fripp Island. Reserve your rental in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.

Finding the best vacation home in the Beaufort, SC area:
- First and foremost, have your group decide on the best dates and a budget.

- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before you book the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If your family is traveling with pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

More considerations for your visit:
- We recommend storing the owner's information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would back home.
- Record any damages to the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute arises.
- Be respectful. Often, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on good reviews to propel more reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
