Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:

How to get the best rental value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Fripp Island. To find the best value, consider changing your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer great weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Beaufort, SC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • In the Beaufort, SC area, The earlier your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Some owners offer discounts for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property managers usually offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Beaufort, SC visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides contain offers and deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Pet Friendly, Golf Cart included, community pool - 899 Marsh Dunes has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Beaufort, SC vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available online. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before you book the home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or costs might be applied to your agreement.

Know before you go:

  • Get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, record any problem areas during check in. Make contact with the host immediately to relay any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your life at home. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let burglars ruin your vacation.
  • On check-out day, take a walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
