Our top Rental property booking tips and tricks:
Finding your perfect rental home:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is the most expensive season in coastal SC. Book your Beaufort, SC rental property in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Beaufort, SC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Beaufort, SC visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitor guides contain discounts for nearby tours and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Select a group lead, choose your dates, and select a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Fairway to Heaven - Golf Views, Close to Beach & Pools has 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before booking your home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- If there's a certain Beaufort, SC destination you are crazy about, keep an eye out for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Advice for a great stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
- During arrival, note any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a excellent stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
