Tricks and tips to get the optimal vacation home experience:

Sticking to a rental budget:

  • In the Beaufort, SC area, The sooner your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Reserving your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To get the most suitable rental within your budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at Beaufort, SC restaurants, tours, and activities.
  • Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies typically offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Many management companies supply Beaufort, SC area travel guides which will include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, SC visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Filter your rental search:

  • First and foremost, have your group choose vacation dates and a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Sea Sounds - steps to beach access, sleeps 17 and golf cart included has 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking pages. If not, email the property management company before reserving your rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a rental that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Is your group looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.

More tips for your stay:

  • Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental while you're away. Keep your property safe!
  • Upon check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a great stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
